From recording emerging artists in Studio B to developing his own signature production style, Glenn (GG) discusses the art of engineering, musical originality and his ambitions with DUB 5.

Behind every great recording is someone who understands how to bring the best out of an artist. At DUB 5's London Bridge recording studios, engineer and producer Glenn, also known as GG (@official1gg), is developing a reputation for his approach to vocal recording, his attention to detail and his passion for music production.
With approximately five to seven years of engineering experience and seven months as part of the DUB 5 team, Glenn brings both technical knowledge and an appreciation for the creative process.
For him, a successful session isn't simply about pressing record. It's about understanding the artist, creating the right environment and delivering a sound that represents their vision.
Working with Artists: Four Milli, Shayla and Mobi1
Asked about his standout moments at DUB 5, Glenn immediately points to his session with Four Milli.
"Working with him was honestly such a breeze. He came prepared, was serious about his craft, and we just clicked right away."
For Glenn, that combination of preparation, creative direction and chemistry makes the recording process particularly rewarding.
He also highlights working with Shayla and Mobi1, whose garage-influenced sound introduced him to a different recording approach.
The experience reinforced an important lesson: no two artists work in exactly the same way.
"You've got to adapt to whoever walks through that door."
It's an approach that reflects what artists need from an engineer: someone who can understand their creative direction while providing the technical support needed to bring it to life.
The Art of Engineering: Finding the Perfect Sound
The Shard view at DUB 5
Glenn's engineering journey began long before his arrival at DUB 5.
Originally studying videography, he found himself increasingly drawn towards music, teaching himself much of the engineering process through YouTube, practical experience and countless hours refining his mixes.
"I fell in love with the craft and chasing that polished, balanced and cohesive sound."
His vocal chain combines familiar industry tools with an emphasis on careful listening.
FabFilter Pro-Q plays a key role in shaping frequencies and creating space, while Pultec-style EQs help introduce warmth and character. For compression, he favours the CLA-2A and Waves R-Vox, alongside saturation to help vocals sit naturally within a mix.
For vocal tuning, Glenn works with Slate MetaTune and Melodyne, selecting the tools that best suit the performance.
But he believes the most important piece of equipment cannot be purchased.
"Honestly the best tool isn't a plugin at all, it's your ears. You have to train them and you have to stay humble."
His approach extends beyond the studio monitors. By checking mixes on phones, car speakers, AirPods and everyday earphones, Glenn aims to ensure his recordings translate across the listening environments artists and their audiences actually use.
It's a practical philosophy built around consistency, continual learning and delivering professional results.
Beyond the Mixing Desk: Building the GG Sound
DUB 5 Studio B
Alongside engineering, Glenn is developing his identity as a producer.
Early influences include J Hus and Nines, whose contributions to UK music helped shape his appreciation for distinctive artistry. His interests later expanded into UK drill, with artists such as Digga D, Russ Millions, Loski and 67 becoming important influences.
However, Glenn isn't interested in simply reproducing an established sound.
"I'm building my own sound now. Dancey, catchy with its own bounce and rhythm. A bit underground but totally unique."
He points to producers who have successfully introduced new approaches to familiar genres as inspiration for his own ambitions.
His musical interests extend well beyond drill, incorporating R&B, Afrobeats and rap, with a particular appreciation for music that feels authentic and emotionally connected.
Looking ahead, Glenn wants to establish a recognisable production identity, collaborate with other producers and develop commercial products including sample packs, loop kits and eventually his own audio plugins.
He also intends to share more of his creative process through YouTube and TikTok, giving audiences an insight into how his beats are constructed.
Why DUB 5? Building Something Bigger
For Glenn, joining DUB 5 represented more than finding another recording space.
Having previously operated from his own studio, he understood the financial pressures of maintaining an independent setup. Working from DUB 5 has allowed him to concentrate on engineering and production while expanding his professional network.
Located near London Bridge, DUB 5 provides a central base for recording sessions, artist collaborations and creative networking.
Glenn credits fellow artist Demzzz with introducing him to the studio and speaks positively about working alongside DUB 5 founder and director NYDUS, recognising the ambition behind the company's development.
"I see the vision and I see exactly where this is going. I truly believe DUB 5 can become one of the best studios in the UK and I want to be right here growing with it."
He also values the opportunity to connect with artists through the studio's wider creative activities, including cyphers and networking events.
For artists coming into Studio B, that means access to someone who understands both sides of the recording process: the technical demands of engineering and the creative challenges of making music.
What's Next for Glenn?
Glenn's ambitions are substantial, but his approach remains focused on developing his skills and building relationships.
He's currently working closely with Demzzz on music he hopes will reach a wider audience, while continuing to strengthen his abilities across Ableton Live, Logic Pro and FL Studio.
His dream collaborations include artists such as Nines, J Hus, Central Cee and Digga D, alongside internationally recognised singers RAYE and Tems.
Beyond his own career, Glenn hopes to contribute to DUB 5's growth, particularly through international collaborations, greater connections with US and African artists, and more opportunities for producers and performers to work together.
"I don't want to work on my own. I want to connect and collaborate with other producers and engineers, learn from them and share what I've learned too."
That collaborative mentality sits at the centre of his ambitions.
As DUB 5 continues developing its recording facilities, artist community and wider creative activities, Glenn is determined to play his part.
"I'm not just here for myself, I'm here because I believe in what DUB 5 can become and I want to help make it happen."
For Glenn, the next chapter is about more than perfecting the sound of a recording. It's about helping create something that lasts.
